An option for schools that want to cut the costs of field trips are virtual field trips. Virtual field trips help a school afford the trip omitting the high price of gas and be able to go all over the world such as the Bronx Zoo, Death Valley, The Grand Canyon, and the Alaska's Sitka's National Historic Park. Companies such as Tramline offer ease of access for schools wishing to get on the virtual bandwagon. One class was able to get onto video with a school in England and meet a member of the parliament there.

From the article:

"Virtual field trips offer inspiring ways for students to engage with the world outside their immediate surroundings," said Ruth Blankenbaker, executive director of the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC), which organizes virtual field trips offered by institutions such as the Bronx Zoo. "Geographic boundaries disappear, and the world becomes their classroom."
