National Cristina Foundation Names New Directors in Significant Expansion of Board
MADISON, NEW HAMPSHIRE – January 22, 2020 – At its 2020 Annual Meeting held on January 8, National Cristina Foundation’s Board of Directors elected six new members to serve their first two-year terms. This expansion of the Foundation’s Board comes at an exciting time for the organization, as it begins working to fulfill a broader mission and achieve wider impact.
New members of the National Cristina Foundation Board of Directors include:
- David Bernstein, President of AnythingIT; North Bergen, NJ
- Tom Esselman, CEO of Connecting for Good; Kansas City, MO
- Jim Hunt, Strategy Consultant for Ingram Micro; Argyle, TX
- James Jack, Chief Innovation Officer of human I-T; Long Beach, CA
- Angel Pineiro, Vice President of Strategic Academic Relationships at CompTIA; Saylorsburg, PA
- Dr. Darla Strouse, Executive Director of the Office of Partnerships at the Maryland State Department of Education; Baltimore, MD
The Foundation also elected its officers for 2020, which include Jim Hunt as President, Susan Krautbauer as Vice President, David Bernstein as Treasurer, and Aaron Woods as Secretary.

Since its inception in 1984, National Cristina Foundation has worked to close the digital divide. In recent years, its work has focused primarily on connecting donors of used computers with its network of over 1,300 nonprofit organizations across the country that provide services to particularly vulnerable segments of society. A pioneer in the concept of technology reuse, the Foundation’s work has helped those with disabilities, students, veterans, and economically disadvantaged individuals develop skills, obtain an education, find employment, and be more connected with their families and communities.
Access to computers is an important aspect of digital inclusion, but the challenge goes far beyond the device itself. True digital inclusion also involves proficiency in computer skills, robust internet access, and ongoing support. The Foundation has begun exploring ways to support and strengthen digital inclusion initiatives around the country, as well as the practitioners on the front lines.
This expansion of the Foundation’s Board of Directors brings its total membership to eleven people, and the new members add a wealth of skills and professional experience that will help shape the Foundation’s work around digital inclusion. More additions to the Board are planned for later in 2020.
