A+ has provided tutoring services to over 2,000 disadvantaged students and has donated over 1,500 refurbished computers to successful graduates.
A+ Tutoring Services, Inc. provides after school tutoring services for rural and disadvantaged students in Title I schools. These schools are mainly in Indian reservations, pueblos, cities within 10 miles from reservations and cities with migrant Hispanics. A+ Tutoring Services, Inc. helps schools setup computers in classrooms and labs to raise computer to student ratio. A+ Tutoring Services, Inc. delivers computer based curriculum to remote schools via Internet and manage tutoring program for students who are at risk, score low in statewide tests, and economically disadvantaged. A+ Tutoring Services, Inc. provides extra professional development to teachers at remote schools on-site or via Internet. A+ Tutoring Services, Inc. donates computers to students who cannot afford them. Students can do homework at home with donated computers, gain knowledge and experience in computer operation and are nurtured to become life-long learners using computers as an essential tool. A+ Tutoring Services (A+) operates after school tutoring program for Title I schools under the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) legislation. A+ manages Project Trinity. A+ subscribes to computerized curriculum services and deliver computer based lessons, testings, and tutoring to students at remote rural schools. A+ hires and trains teachers and education assistants at schools to help tutor students. A+ works with school administration to raise student test score and help schools make AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) as mandated by the NCLB legislation. A+ installs donated computers in schools and provide recycled comptuers to students in poverty at no charge. A+ and volunteers help maintain school computer labs and support students's computer needs. Target population are rural and remote schools in or near Indian reservations or cities with a high percentange of migrant Hispanics together with students and families attending these schools.
Students age range from 7 to 18 years old. 100% of the students are below proverty level.
A+ Tutoring Services has capacity to help over 3000 students per year.
An example is Zuni Pueblo. In past year, A+ donated over 90 PC to Zuni students via this program. Zuni is the second largest Native American tribe in New Mexico. Its population is about 14,000. 99% of Zuni residents are below poverty.
